Ethics and Integrity: The New Code of Ethics of Agenzia Autuori

To safeguard its business and the reputation it has built over time, and to establish a framework to guide its activities, Michele Autuori Srl Shipping Agency has decided to formalise the principles of honesty, fairness, transparency and legality that have always guided its work, and to call on its stakeholders – directors, employees, external associates, partners, suppliers, customers, etc. – to observe these principles.

The drafting of this Code of Ethics marks a key milestone in the agency’s decision-making process as it develops its organisational, management and control model to prevent the offences covered by Legislative Decree No. 231 of 8 June 2001.

"Where there’s sea, there’s bread."

"Salerno is strategically located and must have an important port".

It began as an idea that only seemed visionary: Michele Autuori expanded his business across the Mediterranean with the arrival of the first steamships, following an initial venture in merchant coastal shipping between the Sicilian ports and ports throughout the former Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Founded in 1871 by Michele Autuori, born in Cetara, in the province of Salerno, in 1846, the company is one of Italy’s oldest shipping agencies. Always run by the Autuori family, it operates in Salerno in the maritime and port sector, serving the shipping, industrial and commercial sectors. Its expertise in maritime transport, together with a strong commitment to investing in the development of Salerno’s port infrastructure, forms the solid foundation on which the company has built its growth.

From the end of the Second World War onwards, Michele Autuori, born in 1900, devoted considerable effort to the port expansion works through tireless involvement in politics, journalism and essay writing. When the major expansions of the port facilities that we still see today were completed in the early 1980s, the availability of the new areas laid the foundations for the significant growth in traffic we see today, consolidating our port’s importance in international shipping and securing jobs and growth for the port sector and local businesses (as discussed in numerous essays and writings by Michele Autuori).

The development of the Port of Salerno is still pursued with equal passion and dedication by the Autuori family, now in its fifth generation. They remain fully aware of how important it is to keep such a strategic infrastructure fit for today’s traffic and ready for future growth. The sea remains a cornerstone, an unparalleled resource for education and social, cultural and economic development.
